We begin the season of Lent with a new series that focuses on the last chapters of Genesis and the story of Joseph. Not only does this story resolve the theme of God making things “good” in Creation, it’s also a story that foreshadows the story of Jesus. In this first sermon, we’ll be introduced to Joseph and his dreams, which remind us that God has a dream for his people and his world, but a dream that requires us to be willing to submit ourselves to it in order for it to become reality. Joseph’s brothers have a hard time seeing the “good” in Joseph’s visions, but Joseph will nevertheless overcome their jealous scheme to get rid of him for good.
