

… The third chapter of Genesis is one of the most important in the whole Bible and in all of human history. It describes the “fall” of humanity and the expulsion of the first humans from the garden paradise God had created for them. Genesis 4 picks up the story with the next generation of human beings, and the effects of sin have clearly made things worse. Sibling rivalry leads to the eldest son Cain murdering his younger brother Abel in a jealous rage. It’s a story that repeats the pattern of Genesis 3 – premeditation, violation, realization, blame, curse, and punishment. While human beings make some progress in technology and begin to urbanize, their sinful nature prevents them from truly making headway in life outside the Garden. Continue Reading……
